O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree

If you know me by now, you can easily tell my emotions by the way I walk.

When I'm happy, I will have little hops when I walk.
When I'm really very happy, I will hop hop hop on the spot for no apparent reasons.
When I'm sad (or dreading to do something aka going to school), I'll drag my feet when I walk.

Daddy set our Christmas tree last Saturday night, and I helped put the ornaments on our Christmas tree. Compared to previous years, I sort of understand the excitement of celebrating Christmas. I mean what's not to be excited about? We're talking about loads of presents for me me ME! See how nice our tree is??

Mommy went through the old photos and this is how I was during my first Christmas celebration. Didn't seem too happy at that time, huh?

Followed by Zzzzzzz....

The following Christmas, I was a little more excited looking at the presents but refused to put on my Santa hat.

For Christmas 2008, since Yi Po, Po Po, Sam Yi Po, Kung Kung, Har Dey went to Dubai, we went back to Penang. We had Christmas dinner at a Chinese restuarant there with Yeh Yeh, Granny, Uncle Eugene, Aunty Ee San, Aunty Zena & Kenneth Koko.

OK - back to Christmas 2009 or rather the preparation, Mommy said I was singing "Jingle Bells Jingle Bells" while helping Daddy set up the tree. Too bad she didn't manage to catch that on video. She caught this instead ...............can you see how happy I was? Hop hop hop.

My Beary Friends (Part 2)

Mommy has moved some of my beary friends to make more sitting space on the sofa.

So when Daddy came out to the living room and saw me sitting among them, he quickly got his camera to take these photos.

Daddy: "Bryan, what are you doing sitting up there?"
Bryan: "Follow bear-bear. Sit high high on the sofa."
Daddy: "Be careful, OK"
Bryan: "OK"

Poor Owl

This is how my masterpiece owl looks now.

He's still perched atop the TV but has lost an eye, a yellow feather and the color has faded from his former glorious golden days.
Poor owl- at the mercy of the hands of an unremorseful lil' boy called Bryan.

Baby Kiko hamper & RM 100 cash prize

This is what I got as First Prize winner for the Baby Kiko Precious Moments contest.

Quite a good hamper, don't you think so? Mommy & Daddy went to take the prize from the Baby Kiko HQ and as there was still some time before picking me up, they went to IKEA for some quick shopping and spent my RM 100 cash prize. Hrrrmph!

Mommy says they can't bring me along for serious shopping coz' I'm too naughty nowadays - darting here and there, touching this and that. When my Mommy is angry with me, she'll call out in a very loud voice "BRYAN GOH WEI SHERN!!!" but when I'm a good boy and behaving well, I'm her "Shern-shern"

p.s. Mommy submitted another entry for November'09 contest, but we were not chosen this round .... so she told Daddy she's not joining the contest for some time. Sour grapes.

This is the entry Mommy submitted:-

You are amazing because just a glimpse of your endearing and joyful face makes me forget my heavy burdens.

I Won! I Won!

My Mommy & Daddy have never entered me in any baby or toddler contests. Hmm....maybe they think I'm not cute enough??
While Mommy was browsing through her e-mails, there was a notification of a contest (apparently this contest sponsored by The Star and Baby Kiko has been going on for some time now) and the contest is called "Precious Moments" which is the same as my blog. Talk about coincidence, huh. Photo entries of "captured precious moments of a parent & child" are to be submitted with a slogan "You are amazing because..... (not more than 15 words)"
So Mommy submitted 2 entries for the October contest with the following slogans.

You are amazing because you never fail to remind me fo the simple joys of life.

You are amazing because your curiousity in discovering new adventures makes each day an exciting journey for us all!

On Oct 31, my Mommy's colleague called her saying that my entry was chosen as 1st prize winner. Hurrah! Hurrah! My first contest and I won!

Mommy & Daddy are convinced that our lucky star is shining upon us & they said it's time to buy lottery. Hehehehehe.

My Masterpiece featured in Wyeth newsletter!

Imagine my Mommy's surprise when she was browsing through the latest Wyeth newsletter and she saw my Red Owl masterpiece.

She showed it to Daddy and then took the Red Owl (or whatever that is left of Red Owl - without the yellow feathered top & lost an eye, but perched on top of our TV) to see whether it's the same thing. It IS the same "work of art", if I may say so myself. Hehehe.

Of all the creations done during the workshops, Wyeth had chosen mine to be featured! Hurrah Hurrah! Mommy was saying how nice it would have been if both ME and my creation were featured.....
But Mommy looked back at the photos taken during the workshop & came to the conclusion that I wasn't picture perfect that day with my runny nose & the I'm not so happy coz I'm about to fall sick look. See for yourself.....

Oh well, can't have it all.....
p.s. Mommy said she'll post the photo of poor Red Owl (almost 8 months old from creation date) to see how it had suffered at my rough hands..

A petit Picasso in the making??

I can hold pens, pencils, crayons like a big boy now. I used to grasp it in my hand (mommy calls it "gobb" Don't gobb, she will scold) and hated it when they tried to change the way I was holding the pens etc. I would refuse to continue drawing and ask them to draw instead!

The other day while Daddy was watching TV and I was seated beside him with my drawing board, Daddy glanced at my drawing then asked Mommy to hurry with the camera. This is what I told Daddy of my drawing.

(from right to left) "This is Bryan, this is Mommy, this is Daddy"

When Daddy asked "who's that?" (pointing to the far left "thing"), I just smiled
My mai-mais will say that it's a Mei-mei or Ti-ti but to me, brown doggy is equally important and a part of our family.....
(Mommy: Noticed how fierce the Mommy looked while the Daddy had a big jovial grin on his face....)

At Yi Po's house, my drawing table is covered with mahjong paper, so Yi Po or Po Po will change the used mahjong paper to a new one whenever I want to draw something with my crayons. Here I've drawn buses with people on it and the lines are curtains for the buses, in case it gets too hot. I'm into details, you see.

Mommy: Afraid some made-up words have stuck in his vocab like "gobb".
The other word would be "ahbook" for the round black thing i.e. bath stopper, sink stopper..
Don't remember how "gobb" started but for "ahbook" this is what happened.
We were staying in a hotel (can't remember which hotel) and the room came with shower only. The little one was terrified of bathing under the shower, so distracted him by tossing the only thing available at that time i.e. "ahbook" to see how and where it landed. He was laughing and laughing, and forgot that he was taking bath under the shower. Must have been quite young that time, and I had totally forgotten about"ahbook" until the other day, when he was brushing teeth, he saw the black stopper on the sink and said "See Mommy ...ahbook".
Now have to think how to take away "gobb" and "ahbook" from his vocab...sigh!

Pitch Perfect??

I love to sing.
Recently, they (Mommy, Daddy, Yi Po, Po Po etc) think I'm a little naughty coz' I'll change the lyrics to the tune. Like I'll sing "Do you know the MUSIC MAN, the MUSIC MAN, the MUSIC MAN" (Mommy: In a very loud voice when emphasizing the MUSIC word) instead of the MUFFIN MAN.

My current favorite is Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and I'll ask Mommy to sing this song on the way to playschool. Mommy will obliged me... twice most, then switch on the nursery rhyme CD. She says Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is a very long song and there are many words in it.

In case you don't know, Mommy is very particular about where the CDs are produced coz' previously she bought one that was published locally. She would complain to Daddy about the mispronunciation and the way the children were screeching at the top of their voices.

Recently Mommy got 4 new activity books (with CDs attached) which are published in UK.
One book costs RM 14.90 She's awfully pleased with the CDs, so I get to listen to the nursery rhymes in the car every day. I'm not that particular actually just as long as they put my CDs and not listen to NEWS and THEIR CDs.

Mommy caught a video of me singing "SO MANY SONGS" this morning and if you hear something that goes "ting de ting de ting de ting de ting de" - that's the "break" between songs, you see.

Hazardous Driver

LLMM will understand how much I enjoy my bike ride (RM 3 for 5 mins ride) as she has watched the episode "Akai kuruma (red car)" in the Japanese animation "Akachan To Boku (Baby and Me)". Minoru, the baby brother was presented with a battery-operated red car, and would keep the family awake and drive them crazy by driving his electric car the entire time.

I can press the pedal but don't know how to release it when I need to stop or brake.
Almost knocked down a smaller toddler whose grandmother gave us a dirty look..... Sorry!!!

See how I almost fell off my bike when I turned abruptly?
Hmmm.... definitely need more practice. DADDY! More RM 3 tokens please!

Bookworm Genes

I like to follow what Daddy & Mommy are doing.

If they're busy doing something on their computers, I'll be bugging Daddy to take out my computer for me. If Mommy's doing laundry, I'll insist on helping her. Mommy says I'm her little helper and I've become quite good at putting the pegs onto the damp clothes.
Just the other day, I helped Mommy to carry some of the shoes boxes to the shoe case and I helped Daddy to re-arrange all the books in the bookshelf. See, I'm not just into mischief and getting into trouble all the time - I can help out when I want to. If I want to, that is....

Both Daddy & Mommy love to read, but their books are "ALL WORDS ONLY" which I think is rather boring. Here's a video Mommy took of me reading an "ALL WORDS ONLY" book.

Daddy has alloted two portions in the bookshelf for my books - he says that I can see the books that I have and take them out whenever I want to read them. The other day Daddy took out my Disney encyclopedia for me to read, and it's my current favorite. It has pictures and words. This is what Daddy taught me.

Daddy: "The baby of a dog is called a ...."

Bryan: "Puppy"

Daddy: "A cat's baby is called a ...."

Bryan: "Kitten"

Daddy: "A horse's baby is a ...."

Bryan: "Foal"

Daddy: "A bear's baby is called a ..."

Bryan: "Cub"

Daddy: "A lion's baby is called a ...."

Bryan: "Cub. Same same baby bear"

Daddy: "The baby of a pig is called a ...."

Bryan: "Piglet"

Daddy: "The baby of a squirrel is called a ....."

Bryan: (Silence)

Daddy: "An in....."

Bryan: "In ....fant"

Daddy: "The baby of a porcupine is called a ..."

Bryan: "PET"

Daddy: "No, a porcupette"

Bryan: "PORCUPETTE"

Har! I'm sure you didn't know the porcupine's baby name, now did you?!

Outing with my one of my best friend

Everyone in playschool and at home knows that Josiah is one of my best friends.

He is actually 5 months younger than me, but according to Aunty Shirley, we clicked the first time we met. And ever since then, we have been the best of friends.
I like to follow what he's doing although sometimes we both get into trouble and end up sitting on the naughty chairs. In case you don't know, I'm more of a follower than a leader. Hehehe. Daddy & Mommy think I would have been so happy if I had a big brother or big sister. Mommy says when Josiah's around, she doesn't have to worry about me feeling lonely and scared. Josiah has started Chinese class since July (I think), so Mommy said I shouldn't have any problem adjusting to Chinese class coz' Josiah's in it.

From what I can understand from Daddy & Mommy's conversation, I may be starting Chinese class next January. I overheard Josiah's mommy telling my Mommy that Josiah can't wait for school to start after the Hari Raya break..... Hmmm, can't understand why he thinks that way. For me, I'm dreading school to start coz' during school holidays, I can spend the whole day playing to my heart's content at Yi Po's house.

Here's a few pictures taken during our outing together. I hope we will be friends for a long, long time.

Birthday Preparation & Celebration

Daddy and Mommy planned on throwing a birthday celebration for me & my friends at kids-friendly places like KidzGym & Sports, Kidszone etc. but due to the H1N1 scare, they decided to do a simple one at my playschool.
There are 15 boys (including me) & 14 girls at my playschool. I helped Daddy & Mommy to prepare the party packs. For the girls, there were 2 kinds of party packs.

For the boys, we prepared this.....

........ although Mommy said I was very reluctant to part with all the vehicles we bought for the boys' party packs.

Finding the perfect cake took a lot of time and in the end, they settled for a rainbow cake by San Terri (one of our favorite cake shops). We could choose 2 flavors for each cake, so Daddy & Mommy would buy small slices of different flavored cakes for me to try and decide. The cake costs a whopping RM190 but it was such a hit with my friends! Even the teachers said it was such a special cake!

After our cake eating time, Lao Tze asked me to choose my best friends to hand over the party packs. Without thinking twice, I called out Josiah (my bestest bestest friend) but Lao Tze thought I said Lao Tze instead. (Daddy says he has a video shot of me calling out Josiah's name...hehehe), so the sequence became: Mikhael (Mommy's not sure of the spelling - he's Malay-Chinese origin), Brian Tan, Swetha, Emir, Mitsu & Josiah... who was waiting & waiting to be called.

Everyone got a party pack (I got one too!) & Mommy was very happy coz some of the other mommies told her what nice party packs Bryan gave out.

I can't wait for my next birthday celebration!!
Didn't I tell you September is simply the BEST month of the year?!

A Month of Birthdays!

Apart from the month of July (birthday month for LLMM, Har Dey & Po Po), September is a month of birthdays. Mommy calls these months "pokkai" (literally translated as "bankrupt") months.

All in all, I had 3 birthday celebrations!
The first (on 6th Sept) was held in Marco Polo restaurant (with Karaoke-ing, of course) as birthday celebrations for Tiffany Mai-mai (whose birthday falls on 10th Sept) and myself.

Po Po and Har Dey came back from their Dubai trip just for this celebration! Aren't they just super?! Brought this Bob The Builder hat for me too.

Oh did you see my Goofy jelly cake? Yi Po asked whether I wanted Mickey Mouse cake, but I told her I wanted Goofy cake instead.

The second celebration was held at my playschool on 7th Sept but Mommy says another post will be dedicated to that preparation and celebration. On the same night, we had my third birthday celebration at Yi Po's house. This is my third birthday cake.

Look at all the presents that I got!

Then we celebrated Yi Po's birthday (on the 20th) and for that celebration, Kau Kung & Kam Po were invited. I used to be terrified of Kau Kung but look, I'm fine with him now. I've really grown up huh.... plus it helps that Kam Po gave me a 12 mini board book set of CARS when they arrived. I'm sure they must be equally terrified that I will bawl like I did last time........

Not to forget preparing the birthday gifts for my babyhood friends, Swetha (11th Sept) and Brian Tan (17th Sept). So I can sort of symphatize with Daddy & Mommy that the month of September is indeed a "pokkai" month........
September is my favorite month.....not counting December, that is.
