LLMM (aka Ling Ling Mai Mai)

My LLMM has returned to France after spending 2 weeks with us.
It was a pity she had to go back on 1st June coz' my school holidays started on 1st June itself.
LLMM was complaining that she couldn't spend much time with me coz' after coming back from school, I'll be tired, have something for lunch and after that, will have my afternoon nap. And if I don't have enough sleep, I'll be cranky until my Daddy and Mommy comes back, and refused to eat my dinner. Daddy and Mommy will quickly finish their dinner, and bring me home.
Mommy said she has to let LLMM know my school schedule so that LLMM can arrange to visit us during that time.
Before LLMM left, another Mai Mai, Tiff Mai Mai came to KL for an interview (for the position of make-up trainer). She had to submit a recent portfolio of her works, so LLMM was Tiff Mai Mai's model for that day.

I was a good boy that day and didn't disturb the make-up brushes etc. even though they were within my reach. They laughed when I said, "MAI MAI BIG EYES"

Mommy said LLMM bears an uncanny resemblance to the celebrity DJ "Serena C".

LLMM, if you are here and not so far away - you could be a local celebrity too!

I got rhythm, I got music...

In case I mention "wanna go JUSCO", I'm actually referring to the play area at JUSCO shopping centers. Daddy and Mommy will make a once a week trip, or sometimes once a fortnight trip to JUSCO AU to have the car washed and stock up some groceries. It's near our house (just 5-10 minutes by car), there are plenty of car parks available, Daddy knows the car wash supervisor there and the crowd is not so bad compared to 1U or MidValley.

There's a routine we always follow: send the car for wash, then have lunch / dinner (depending on the time) at the BBQ Chicken restaurant (they fry the marinated chicken in olive oil which is Yummy!) but don't take the caffe latte or juices. According to Daddy and Mommy, the food menu is great but the drinks, not worth the price. So what Mommy does is fill my juice bottle with orange juice - although it's written "No Outside Food Allowed", I'm sure no one will deny a little boy his juice.... I wonder if they notice that Mommy finishes half of it though.

After our meal, we'll proceed to the 2nd floor where "JUSCO" is.
My sense of direction is fantastic - once I see the electrical / electronics department to my right, I will release my grip from Mommy / Daddy and run full speed towards JUSCO. I LOVE "driving" the green bus which Mommy said she will take a video of me in it the next time we're at JUSCO. And the fire truck. And the patrol car. Also, playing bowling. And playing the drums "taiko tataki" which I get to play with Daddy / Mommy. They will usually choose the Anpanman theme song first, and if they cleared the challenge level and given a free round, they will choose the Doraemon theme song.

Can you see how well I'm following Daddy's lead? I know when to beat fast, and slow down even without looking at Daddy's movement. I got rhythm, I got music, I got my drums, Who can ask for anything more?

After 30 minutes or so at JUSCO, we'll head down to the grocery department where I'll insist on sitting in the shopping trolley while Daddy and Mommy shops. Sometimes there'll be some ceh-cehs doing promotions on milk and yoghurt drinks, and if I'm lucky, ice cream (Yummy!) and I get to taste the samples.

So now you know why I love going to JUSCO!

I'm on wings!

It's rather hot and humid nowadays, so last Saturday Daddy & Mommy brought me for a swim at our condo's pool. Instead of my good ol' round float, Daddy helped me put on my "wings" coz' I'm a big boy now (2 years and 9 months old) and I should be able to "fly" on my "wings".

At first, it felt strange and scary with just the "wings". Daddy said I must have been nervous coz' I kept on singing while floating in the water, and refused to let go of his hand. They say I'm a "scary cat"....

See how happy I am with my wings.

Mommy took a video of me swimming on my "wings" with Daddy.
This time, she got the direction right. Way to go, Mommy!
Mommy noticed another little girl (around my age) who was on wings too. But she had on "OGIVAL wings" while I was on "no brand wings". My Mommy notices such things.. ...Daddy will say "frivolous things". My Daddy is very practical, you see.

Pedal, pedal!

I can pedal my bike already!
Still in half cycles though. We found this nice space between our condo block B and block C where I can pedal my bike to my heart's content. It's nice and airy there.
I used to practise pedalling my bike at home, but my bike's handle left some marks on the wall.
So since then, no more pedalling inside the house.

Mommy said she'll get a safety helmet for me soon. Can't wait!
Oh this video was captured by Mommy's mobile phone, and she got the direction all wrong.
She's so happy to be able to upload the video from her mobile phone.....although the function was there all the time. She has been using this phone since last September. Mommy's not very high-tech, you see.

Cinderella & Little Mermaid (By Mommy)
Last Sunday, we went to Guardian Pharmacy at JUSCO AU to get Bryan's insect bite cream as well as some fresh milk, juices for him from JUSCO supermarket. Don't know why but the other Guardian pharmacies don't carry this product (FOBANCORT).

Daddy was paying at the cashier, and Bryan was playing in the aisle with rows and rows of shampoo bottles. Oh, Godpa came over for a visit that day. So Godpa was somewhere near Bryan, keeping an eye on him.

Bryan: (pointing at the shampoo bottle with Cinderella's picture) This is Cinderella.
Bryan recognizes Cinderella well because of the countless times reading Cinderella story with Po Po.
Bryan: (pointing at the shampoo bottle with Little Mermaid's picture) Cinderella wearing swim suit.

(Laugh) I wonder if he noticed the difference in hair color of the Disney princesses, but perhaps in his eyes, a princess IS a princess.

Another Milestone
For the past 2-3 weeks, brown doggy no longer follows Bryan to school anymore.
Our little boy has indeed become a big boy!
Well done, Bryan!

Jimai

We have many activities in the month of May. Everyone at home is very excited!

My Jimai (2nd aunt in Hainanese) came back for a mini-break for the first two weeks in May.

And for the last two weeks in May, my Ling Ling Mai Mai (aunt Ling Ling) will be back to visit all of us. I haven't seen them for a long, long time. I wonder if they miss their one and only nephew......

This is my Jimai carrying me when I was around 3 months old. Don't we look alike?
Mommy told me among her siblings, Jimai and her resemble each other the most.

Oh, in case you didn't know, I love to be carried. See how comfortable I'm perched like a baby koala?

When my Jimai comes back, everyone will put on weight coz' she'll bring everyone out for food, food and more food! It's a good thing the durian season hasn't started, otherwise the whole house will be filled with durian smell! Jimai loves to eat durian but not the ordinary type of durian you get at the supermarkets the whole year through... Kung Kung & Jimai has a contact person in Jalan Alor who will call them when a good breed of durian is in season.

We had many food outings during Jimai's short stay such as the Korean BBQ at Daddy's office building (family gathering with Yeh Yeh & Granny), crabs etc at Wong Ah Wah Jalan Alor (for Mommy's birthday), dim sum brunch at Concorde Hotel (for Mother's Day)...

These photos were taken during the dim sum brunch at Concorde Hotel.

It's so confusing to call the Mai Mais in their special names - Jimai, Damai (3rd aunt), Ling Ling Mai Mai, Tiffany Mai Mai.. so I call "Mai Mai" when there is only one Mai Mai around, and if there are more than one Mai Mai, I will say "Mai Mai wearing (color of clothes)"
But Mommy was very surprised when I asked for "Jimai" (after she went back to Dubai).
Conversation (Mommy & Bryan)
It was a Sunday afternoon and we were out shopping at The Curve (Mutiara Damansara).
Bryan was being very naughty - didn't want to walk nor sit in his stroller. Wanted to be carried instead. Couldn't get much shopping done so Mommy and Daddy decided to go home. Told Bryan "No more shopping. Let's go home".
Bryan: Don't wanna go home. Go Yi Po's house. Play toys.
Mommy: Yi Po's busy. Yi Po went out.
Bryan: Where's Po Po?
Mommy: Po Po's busy. Po Po also went out.
Bryan: Sam Yi Po?
Mommy: Sam Yi Po also busy.
Bryan: Kung Kung?
Mommy: Kung Kung went out.
Bryan: Where's Har Dey? (young uncle in Hainanese)
Mommy: Har Dey also busy.
Bryan: Where's Jimai?
Mommy (surprised): Bryan's so clever... knows how to call Jimai.
Bryan: Where's JIMAI?
Mommy: Jimai went back to Dubai.
Bryan: (a little crestfallen) Don't wanna go home. Buy ice-cream, drink juice...

My Daddy and Me

Like many babies, I called my Daddy first before Mommy.
Why is that, I wonder??

But it was "Zizzy" for some time before it turned DADDY one day.
Daddy and Mommy used to tease me saying there is something wrong with my ears, "mimi ga warui ne". Hrrmph!

My Daddy's colleagues say I look like Mommy, and my Mommy's colleagues say I'm the exact imprint of my Daddy. Hmmm... But all agree that I take after Daddy in size. Mommy hopes that I'll have Daddy's perfect eyesight. And hopes that I'll have the athletic genes too. Daddy used to represent his school in the hurdle race. I think 400m. Or was it the 200m?? Mommy used to dread Sports Day coz' she would end up tailing the rest of her friends, being the last or the second last each time during the 100m race. Mommy's side of the family are rather a bunch of bookworms, you see.

This is Mommy's favorite photo of me and my Daddy. See how tall my Daddy is?

Mommy likes this photo because she says we seem to be oblivious to others, sharing a secret destination only known to Father and Son. That's what she derived from that moment in the photo - but actually I was thinking "Gosh, so many steps more. My legs are killing me!!"
When I'm being carried by my Daddy, it gives me a different perspective. I'm so used to looking up at people that sometimes I get a crick in the neck. It's nice to be able to look down once in a while.

My Daddy is my playmate. At home, we play hide and seek, we draw together - actually Daddy draws while I ask him to draw this and that, we play blown out bubbles together.... sometimes Daddy will piggy back me from the living room to the bedroom, then back to the living room again. He'll be complaining about my weight though.... I'm a 16.4Kg load now.

Unlike my Mommy who can only draw 2D pictures, my Daddy is very artistic.
He used to score the highest points for Arts in school. My Daddy is also very creative. Look at the three different farm houses he built for me with my Big Farmhouse Lego Duplo. I did help out positioning some of the farm animals though.

Only time will tell if I'll have Daddy's perfect eyesight, Daddy's height, Daddy's athletic, creative and artistic genes ..... until then, we can only hope.

Rave Reports!

I have been an exceptionally good boy at school for the past 2 weeks.

Aunty Shirley and the other teachers are very happy with my progress and heap praises to whoever picks me up from school. Everyone at home is very pleased with me.

But Yi Po, Po Po and Sam Yi Po said I have picked up some "naughty" habits from school too, like rolling on the floor, and climbing onto tables and chairs. Mommy said it's good for my gross motor development - just as long as I don't hurt myself.

The other day, I decided to try my Chinese with Daddy and Mommy.

So I sang, "Un-cle lao fu, Un-cle lao fu, pao te quai, pao te quai, i ke mei you yen zing, i ke mei you er tuo, zen xi quai" You can imagine how surprised Daddy and Mommy were. Daddy said it's not "un-cle" but "san ke". Well, I do try my best, you know. I can count from 1 to 10 in Chinese, and say out some shapes in Chinese too. Mommy doesn't know Chinese, so Daddy corrects me when I pronounce the words wrongly. Daddy and Mommy are contemplating to send me for daily Chinese classes (from 1 to 2 pm) but it will be inconvenient for them to pick me up at 2pm, and they'll also need to add dailly luncheon to my school fees. They will have to fork out an extra RM 450 per month (Chinese classes RM 300 & daily luncheon RM 150)to my school fees. So I think the idea of taking up extra Chinese classes is shelved at the moment.....

Here are my rave reports:-

6 - 10 April'09
Bryan has improved on his attitude. He hardly pushes other children lately. His attention span has improved. He enjoyed himself and was very creative during Jumbo Block activitiy. He claimed that he built a house.

HFM outbreak. There will be no water and sand play. Our school is taking precaution. We are checking and washing the children's hands and feet daily when they come to school. Would appreciate if you could do so before sending your child to school.
From the report, it would seem as if I have an attitude problem huh.
I don't. Honest. Oh, did you know that I slapped Aunty Shirley's face during my first day of school? She told Mommy that she was restraining me from playing a toy, and that I retaliated by slapping her back. They used to say that I play a little rough and aggressively. But I'm a little boy after all. They can't expect me to be sugar and spice and everything nice right?

13 ~ 17 April'09
Bryan did not cry this week. He does his work well and listens to instructions.
Well done. Keep it up!

What a good boy I have been at school! I hope they won't expect me to do something new and scary like poo-poo in the potty. After all, I have been following their instructions to wee-wee in the potty at school.

Mommy said I seemed to have grown taller these days. I'm around 98 ~ 99 cm in height and 16.2 Kg in weight. According to the growth chart (for boys), I'm on the 90 ~ 95 percentile for both height and weight, meaning 90 ~ 95% of boys my age are either my height or shorter than me, and of my weight or weigh less than me. So I'm on the big side. They say I take after Daddy. Mommy says I'm like Thumper in the Walt Disney "Bambi" cartoon, who used to be a chubby bunny then grew bigger and taller into a skinny hare. Doesn't sound like a compliment huh. Here are my latest photos - don't I look like a little boy?

Oh by the way, Daddy got a Sony Handycam and recorded lots and lots of film rolls of me.
But Daddy says it takes time to transfer and convert the files, so I'm waiting for Daddy to do that before I attach the movie clips here. Can't wait!
